ABLD Conference Started Today!

Hello--Greetings from Iowa City. It's in the 60's and spring is in full session!

Today we saw the Pentagrast--the former site of old state capitol. It was recognizable by the gold topped dome.

The Pappajohn Building is really nice. Lots of clean lines. We really liked the nooks and crannies of the Pomerantz Library. Patel Teal and cream colored walls; very reminscient of West Campus Library colors. We liked the flexible space for Executive Ed and I noticed they have an outdoor patio to sit.

It was so quiet. Not used to that serenity at this time of year where I work. I also liked the one service desk and the librarian's offices very close by to be on call.

Nice to meet our new members Millicent from MIT and Marcella from Penn--and ones I had met before but new to our group: Susan from Emory, Bob from McGill, and Leslie from TAMU. I know them through SLA. I look forward to meeting David from Vanderbilt.

Tonight is dinner, then we start at 9am.

ABLD Conference Around the Corner

The ABLD 2006 Conference is around the corner! It will be hosted by the University of Iowa. Librarians Dave Martin and Laura Leavitt have a great program scheduled.

Yours truly will be a speaker on Thursday, April 20th. It will be good fun to present one of my great passions--blogging!

New Higher Education Blog

It's called Higher Education Blog Con (I presume it means conference). Another way to use social software for presenting tools and ideas.

The week of April 10-14, there will be papers presented on the topic of Library and Information Resources.

News: APBSLG Welcomes 5 New Members

According to Milt Ternberg, Director of the B & E Library at Berkeley,

Welcome to the ABLD Site

I've created this blog for the Academic Business Library Directors group. We are a group of 50 library heads/directors or in some instances, just business bibliographers, of the top 50 b-school libraries--ranked in the top 25 MBA programs one way or another in the US, Canada, and one from Costa Rica.

However, this blog is unofficial and for educational purposes at this juncture since I am giving a presentation at the ABLD Conference next month. Cheers!
